Aardvark

These nocturnal animals are rarely seen at Thanda. On game drives, guides may show guests the areas where they have dug using their incredibly sharp claws and powerful legs looking for ants and termites.

Binoculars

Binoculars can change your wildlife experience, giving you a closer, more detailed look at the animal you're viewing. Although many prioritize a good camera or smartphone to capture your precious moments - don't underestimate the value of a good set of binoculars.

Carrion Flower

Carrion flowers, also known as corpse flowers or stinking flowers, are flowers that emit an odor that smells like rotting flesh. Carrion flowers attract mostly scavenging flies and beetles as pollinators. Some species may trap the insects temporarily to ensure the gathering and transfer of pollen.

Drinks Stop

It is a bit of a climb and therefore not always accessible but it offers spectacular views of the reserve. A must do drinks stop at ‘Worlds View’.

Food – Phathwa

....has chosen to remain during lockdown to ensure that those, who are still on the reserve working, are being well looked after. Another reason to wish we too, were in lockdown at Thanda!

Golden Hour

The light just after sunrise and just before sunset is unlike any other light and it can’t be replicated.
